Everybody loves an A-Line – but we all love them differently!
To try and cater for as many of us as much of the time as we can, we have cut our A-Line body pattern twice, once for the smaller busted or straighter frame and a second time for the more generous bust and curvier frame.
Both body cuts are offered with a choice of straight sleeve headers, pleated sleeve headers and box-pleated bell sleeves.
We also offer four different collar treatments on all our A-Lines.

Smaller Bust
about the bell coat
The Bell coat is fantastically flattering and easy to wear. It is designed to fall to the calf, has roomy bracelet length sleeves, subtle pleats at the shoulders and a generous swing.
Two small seams accentuate a flattering waisted shape at the back, while jetted pockets sit at a subtly slanted angle at the front.
The design can be worn open or closed. When closed, the two front panels of the coat should be able to meet without either straining at the rear or overlapping at the front; they can be held together to keep the coat closed with any of our closures.
body type
The Bell works well on straighter frames with more modest busts.
For those with curvier shapes we recommend the Burlinson Coat.

The Bell has a simple round neck, but can be ordered with a Mandarin, Low Mandarin or Nehru Collar.
You can opt to have the pattern taken in or let out at the shoulders, cut to a longer or shorter length, and to lengthen or shorten its sleeves. As alternatives to the pleated headers, you can opt for subtle gathers or box pleats.
You can add any of our closures to the Bell Coat.

about the carrington coat
The Carrington coat is fantastically flattering and easy to wear. It is designed to fall to the calf, has bracelet length sleeves, neatly tailored shoulders and a generous swing. Two small seams accentuate a flattering waisted shape at the back, while jetted pockets sit at a subtly slanted angle at the front.
The design can be worn open or closed. When closed, the two front panels of the coat should be able to meet without either straining at the rear or overlapping at the front; they can be held together to keep the coat closed with any of our closures.

The Carrington works well on straighter frames with smaller busts.
For those with curvier shapes we recommend the Boyce.

about the delany & the brett
The Delany and Brett coats are based on the Bell and Burlinson body types, but have box pleats at the shoulders and gathered bell cuffs. They are superbly well-suited to wearing above a shorter sleeve or flared sleeve dress.
The Delany is cut for the more modestly busted straighter body type.
The Brett is cut for the fuller busted and curvier shape.
Both coats have two slanted pockets to the front and are designed to be worn open and to fall to mid-low calf length.
When closed, the two front panels of the coats should be able to meet without either straining at the rear or overlapping at the front.

The Delany works well on straighter frames with more modest busts.
The Brett works well on curvier frames with fuller busts.

You can also opt to have the coats taken in or let out at the shoulders, and cut to a longer or shorter length. The Brett can also have additional width added at the hips, bust and waist.

Fuller Bust
about the burlison
The Burlison coat is fantastically flattering and easy to wear. It is designed to fall to the calf, has roomy bracelet length sleeves, subtle pleats at the shoulders and a generous swing. Two small seams accentuate a flattering waisted shape at the back, while jetted pockets sit at a subtly slanted angle at the front.
Generous at the bust area, this coat is specifically cut so that the better endowed don't need to leap up in size to accommodate their bosoms.
The Burlison can be worn open or closed. When closed, the two front panels of the coat should be able to meet without either straining at the rear or overlapping at the front; they can be held together to keep the coat closed with any of our closures.
body type
The Burlison works is particularly well-suited to the more curvaceous and those with more generous busts.
For those with a straighter body shape we recommend the Bell Coat.

Generous at the bust area, this coat is specifically cut so that the better endowed don't need to leap up in size to accommodate their bosoms.
