about the delany & the brett
The Delany and Brett coats are based on the Bell and Burlinson body shapes, have box pleats at the shoulders and gathered bell cuffs.
They are offered with a choice of shorter length sleeves for the summer and longer length sleeves for the winter.
The Delany body cut is based on the Bell, being suited to the straighter frame and more modestly chested. The Brett body cut is based on the Burlinson, being suited to the curvier frame and the fuller busted.
The coats have two slanted pockets to the front and are designed to fall to be worn open and to fall to mid-low calf length.
When closed, the two front panels of the coats should be able to meet without either straining at the rear or overlapping at the front.

The Delany works well on all sizes with more modest busts.
The Brett works well on all sizes with fuller busts.
customising
You can also opt to have the coats taken in or let out at the shoulders, and cut to a longer or shorter length.
Additional width can be added to the Brett at the bust, waist and hips.
You can add any of our closures to the Delany and the Brett coats.

The Delany and the Brett coats can be ordered with Mandarin, Low Mandarin or Nehru collars.

The size table below shows the measurements of the summer version of the Delany coat in both inches and centimetres. The graphic and accompanying table show the points at which the measurements have been taken. The sleeves of the winter version are 10cm or 4" longer than those shown. The additional length is added in the main section of the sleeve, keeping the frill (I) as indicated below.
In selecting your size please remember that these are the garment measurements – your own measurements will be smaller than those shown on the chart – ie a size 8 might typically have a bust measurement of 83cm, fitting a coat with a bust of 91cm.
When selecting your size, please bear in mind what you think you might want to wear underneath your coat and remember that while we can take coats in, we cannot let them out.
