about the bell coat

The Bell Coat is fantastically flattering and easy to wear.

It is designed to fall to the calf, has roomy bracelet length sleeves, subtle pleats at the shoulders and a generous swing. Two small seams accentuate a flattering waisted shape at the back and jetted pockets sit at a subtly slanted angle at the front.

The design can be worn open or closed. When closed, the two front panels of the coat should be able to meet without either straining at the rear or overlapping at the front; they can be held together to 'close' the coat with any of our closures.

The Bell works well on all frames with more modest busts.

The Bell can be taken in or let out at the shoulders, cut to a longer or shorter length, and made with longer or shorter sleeves.
As alternatives to the pleated headers, you can also opt for subtle gathers or box pleats.
You can add a collar treatment and or any of our closures to this coat.
A lining and trim combination is suggested for each fabric, but you are free to choose from our house selection.

The size table below shows the measurements of the Bell coat in both inches and centimetres. The graphic and accompanying table show the points at which the measurements have been taken.

In selecting your size please remember that these are the garment measurements – your own measurements will be smaller than those shown on the chart – ie a size 8 might typically have a bust measurement of 83cm, fitting a coat with a bust of 91cm.

When selecting your size, please bear in mind what you think you might want to wear underneath your coat and remember that while we can take coats in, we cannot let them out.
