about the fedden

The Fedden is one of the most shaped and tailored of our coats. It has neat pleats at the shoulders and a structure that mirrors the traditional hourglass shape.

Flattering for all sizes, this coat is designed with the athletic frame in mind. Full length sleeves are slitted at the wrist and have deep internal hems, allowing the wearer to fold-back the cuff elegantly. It has two hidden seam pockets and is designed to be worn low on the calf.

While designed to be worn open, the two front panels of the coat should be able to meet without either straining at the rear or overlapping at the front. The two front edges can be held together to keep the coat closed with any of our closures.

The Fedden works well on the more athletic frame and is hugely flattering for all sizes.

You can choose to add a Nehru collar to the Fedden.
The Fedden pattern can be taken in or let out at the shoulders, cut to a longer or shorter length, and its sleeves lengthened or shortened.
You can chose to have the Fedden made without pockets.
You can add any of our closures to this coat.
A lining and trim combination is suggested for each fabric, but you are free to choose from our house selection.

The size table below shows the measurements of the Fedden coat in both inches and centimetres. The graphic and accompanying table show the points at which the measurements have been taken.

In selecting your size please remember that these are the garment measurements – your own measurements will be smaller than those shown on the chart – ie a size 8 might typically have a bust measurement of 83cm, fitting a coat with a bust of 94cm.

When selecting your size, please bear in mind what you think you might want to wear underneath your coat and remember that while we can take coats in, we cannot let them out.
